KLF4 (Kruppel-like factor 4), also known as gut-enriched Krüppel-like factor or GKLF, is one of the evolutionarily conserved zinc-finger-containing transcription factors. In humans, KLF4 consists of 513 amino acids, is encoded by the KLF4 gene, and has a predicted molecular weight of approximately 55kD. KLF4 has attracted the attention of researchers because of its diverse functions in physiology and disease and its role as one of the four key factors required for induced pluripotent stem cells. In cancer research, KLF4 expression was found to be frequently lost in a variety of human cancer types, such as colorectal, gastric, esophageal squamous cell, bowel, prostate and bladder cancers. As in lung cancer, KLF4 has been shown to function as a tumor suppressor gene. However, KLF4 was also found to function as an oncogene in a context-dependent manner. High KLF4 expression has been detected in primary breast ductal carcinoma. This product is designed as a tool for the delivery and expression of KLF4 mRNA for research.
