Description

FGF21 (fibroblast growth factor 21) is a member of the endocrine subgroup of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. This peptide is encoded by the human FGF21 gene and is secreted by the liver as a hormone that regulates important metabolic pathways. FGF21 can be expressed in multiple organs and tissues, but it is mainly or exclusively exported into the circulation by the liver, and its amount usually responds to stress or dietary factors such as caloric or protein intake. FGF21 plays a role by activating FGF21 receptors and participates in the regulation of lipid, glucose and energy metabolism.
This product is designed as a tool for the delivery and expression of TF-tagged human FGF21 mRNA for research. The product leverages the lipid nanoparticle (LNP) technology platform for simple and efficient delivery of FGF21-TF (secreted) mRNA to a variety of mammalian cells in vitro and in vivo. The LNPs used are formulated with SM-102, DSPC, cholesterol and DMG-PEG2000 at an optimal molar concentration for a high rate of encapsulation and efficient mRNA delivery. The FGF21-TF (secreted) protein is about 25 kD, consisting of FGF21 and a C-terminal TF tag (15 amino acids). The GenPept accession number for FGF21 (209 amino acids) is NP_061986.

Application & Handing
Upon receiving product, briefly pulse spin before opening to ensure product is at bottom of container. It is important not to spin for too long as this may rupture mRNA-LNPs. Do not vortex. Work with mRNA-LNPs on ice and minimize the time that the product spends at room temperature. After handling the product during experiments, return immediately to ice. mRNA-LNP products should only be handled with certified RNase-free reagents and consumables. Use of filtered pipette tips is highly recommended.
Storage
4°C; ice
